Cade the Barber

What do you do when you get a note home that your kindergardener, during word work, decided to use his lefty scissors to chop off an unsuspecting girl's half ponytail? Boys and mischief....we did find out he cried for 45 minutes in class after he did it. At least there was some remorse there, right?

Luke and the missionaries

We had the missionaries for dinner tonight. Our kids LOVE having the missionaries over. I remember feeling the same way as a kid. With my kids, I think the only time our kids misbehave more is when our home teachers come over. They get so excited and hyper with these guests. Guess we better have people over more often to break them of the habit or something! Anyway. One Elder was from China. He thought Luke was quite the entertainment. The Elder didn't say much, but half the dinner he was watching Luke and laughing so hard it looked like he stopped breathing! Luke loved it. :) Did the Yoda voice and everything. He got a lot of laughs from doing the Yoda voice in Utah, so now he tries it on anyone he thinks will enjoy his silliness. We've really enjoyed our current missionaires. We're sad to see them switch wards this week.

Thankful bucket

Cass waited all morning for all of us to get out of the showers/baths to make a family announcement. She has this purple bucket with a gold ribbon she tied around it, to be our thankful bucket. Everytime we think of something we're thankful for we're supposed to write it on a slip of paper and put it in the bucket. On Thanksgiving we'll read all the papers to see what people are thankful for. Sounds like Mimi's dream activity!

Nightly Routine: "Running over Daddy"

An embarrassing moment

I went to the dentist yesterday and had 4 fillings done. I was so exhausted from the trip, I kept falling asleep. The drills and prodding and shots didn't seem to rouse me. The only thing that would wake me up was the sound of my own SNORING! How embarrassing!! Pretty pathetic, the only place I get a nap anymore is when I'm having dental work done!

Going home

We survived the plane rides. Coming home was a little easier than going, except for the fact we were all exhausted.
Leave it up to Warren to have fun wherever he is. We sure love him.

My 30th Birthday

While the boys played Star Wars, Cass enjoyed her time with Aunt Hailey doing "Mad Libs"

Boone- lifting Cade by his ears. Cade's still talking about it.
I can't believe I'm 30. How the years fly. Thanks Jardines for a tasty chinese food feast! It was so nice to just hang out and let the kids play/sleep. Can't wait to see you again!

Liberty Park with Hess Fam

I love it how the big boys tried to retrain the little guys for the pictures! :)

I told Luke he looked handsome in this pic and he says, "I know I do!"

It was a tearful goodbye as we said farewell to our cousins, not knowing the next time we'll see them. Cass told me yesterday she keeps thinking of all her cousins and grandparents during the day, wondering what they are doing now. Such a sweetheart.

Sweets Candy Factory

We took the kids to the candy factory for a tour. We got to sample goodies as we went along and

then stocked up in the gift shop afterward. My favorite part was Warren's hairnet for his beard! :)

Great Grandpa Duck's 80th Birthday

Our whole reason for going to Utah was to attend this party. I am so grateful to have such a marvelous grandfather who has such a wonderful legacy. Love you, Grandpa! It was so fun to be with you!

Fun with Hess Cousins

We had a fun time Saturday getting together with 12 of the 16 grandkids on the Hess side. Jas and Janene- we missed you guys! Each of my kids has at least 2 cousins their age- it was so fun for them all to play and catch up. I wish we could be together more often. Thanks again, Jules, for making Cade's birthday cake. You are so thoughtful!

Playing in the dried up fountain

Happy Birthday, Dear Cade. This usually has flowers all over it planted to looke like a birthday cake.
snake maze usually covered in leaves. kids had fun playing tag inside instead.

picnicking.
Play huts usually covered in leaves. Boys still having plenty of fun!
Cade and I pretty much celebrated our birthdays the whole weekend. Here was part of Cade's birthday with the Jardines and Peters. The gardens were beautiful with the fall leaves, and we all had a great time. I think the summer is a better time to go as far as playing in the water fountains and the play areas having leaves. The weather was perfect, though. I love the colors of fall!
